Founded at the University of Florida in 2008
To Inspire, To Create, To Give Back, and To Uplift.
A student idea that became a lasting institution.
Project Makeover was founded in 2008 by a few innovative, passionate students at the University of Florida whose mission was to create a more dynamic learning environment for elementary school students.
Each year an elementary school in need is selected and with the help of over 1,000 volunteers we makeover the entire school in one weekend's time. We paint interactive murals, landscape, fulfill a Dream Project requested by the school, and participate in a variety of other activities to help better the facility. As Project Makeover has grown, Project Makeover Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was formed in 2020 to help support our growing initiatives.
Today, our mission is to continue to provide this platform for community members and students by working with elementary schools in need to "makeover" their campuses, be it one mural, garden, or outdoor classroom at a time.
